State Street Reopens After Lengthy Remodel

The 400 and 500 blocks of State Street have reopened, bringing the State Street Beautification Project to a close. The project, which replaced the red sidewalk tiles with brick, took four phases and nearly 10 years to complete. During construction, a couple of blocks at a time were closed down in order to install new landscaping and fountains and to replace sidewalk tiles that often became extremely slippery when wet.
