Nestled in the Santa Ynez Valley, Cachuma Lake offers the perfect day-long family getaway, and this summer the lake’s Nature Center has plenty of activities for the young and young at heart. Aside from the center’s regular hours on Tuesday through Sunday-during which visitors can partake in hands-on wildlife exhibits and displays-there are also weekend programs for kids:
• Junior Ranger Program: S.B. County Park Naturalists teach kids about protecting the environment and award badges to participants. Every Saturday, 1-2pm. Cachuma Lake Nature Center, Highway 154. Call 688-4515.
• Evening Fireside Program: Special guests, such as the S.B. County Fire Department and the Astronomical Unit, present a fun, educational children’s program. Every Friday and Saturday night, 8pm. Cachuma Lake Fireside Theatre, Highway 154. Call 688-4515.
