Gallery Spotlight: Delphine Gallery
Name: Delphine Gallery
Location: 1324 State Street, Suite J (in Arlington Plaza)
Owner: Michael Lepere
Opened: 1984 in Montecito, relocated to State Street in 1991
Focus: Delphine accepts original series from regional artists, adapting its themes to the changing tastes of its featured talent and the public alike. The gallery’s emphasis changes every six to eight weeks. Current paintings lean towards landscapes easily recognizable to those who live in the Santa Barbara area; foamy coastlines, sunsets over amber hills, and views of the Wilcox Property. The gallery also offers basic museum-quality framing, and has a variety of frame jobs and consignment pieces hanging along its walls, ranging from surrealist trees joining overhead to things reminiscent of French Romanticism. Though not featured in the gallery’s current exhibition, these paintings provide an eclectic sneak-peek into private Santa Barbara art collections.
Current Exhibitions: Original work by Jennifer Boswell and the Rancho El Cojo series by Victor Schiro, both Santa Barbara-based artists.
Hours and Contact: Tue.-Fri., 10am-5pm. Call 962-6625 or visit delphinegallery.com.
