Alleged Molestation Victims Lobby to Move Trial to SB

The attorneys representing six men who claim to have been sexually molested by Father Matthew Kelly, a deceased priest long associated with Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, have petitioned a Los Angeles judge to set a trial date for this November and to move the trial from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara. The plaintiffs charge Kelly molested them three years ago, and that the church failed to act on warnings beginning in 1958 that Kelly was taking young boys to his Santa Ynez retreat, plying them with alcohol, and molesting them. Church officials are reportedly balking at the early trial date, but have not objected to moving the trial to Santa Barbara.
