California-based restaurant group Tavistock Restaurants officially completed the acquisition of Freebirds World Burrito on 7/16. The first Freebirds-which is now based out of College Station, Texas-was opened in Isla Vista in 1987 by UCSB roommates Mark Orfalea and Pierre Dube. Tavistock hopes to open 60 more Freebirds restaurants over the next five years.
