The Santa Barbara City Council unanimously voted in favor of a policy statement declaring that commuter rail must be part of any future South Coast transit options. The council hopes Amtrak can be persuaded to accommodate the thousands commuting from Ventura to work in Santa Barbara. The council also hopes to emphasize the importance of commuter rail to government agencies now preparing to put Measure D before voters again.
