City Toughens Energy Efficiency Standards

The Santa Barbara City Council took the first step toward the toughest energy efficiency standards for new construction and additions in the state. Because they exceed state standards, the rules must first be approved by the California Energy Commission. The action came in response to a coalition of energy advocates led by the Community Environmental Council, local architects, and builders, who said the new standards won’t be difficult to achieve.
