Event to Promote Saving Energy, Global Warming Solutions

Fri Feb 01, 2008 | 08:00am

This Saturday, from 1-4 p.m., volunteers will participate in Focus the Nation’s “Day of Action.” Over 1,300 universities will participate in the event and will hold panels, film screenings, lectures and workshops. The purpose of this gathering will be to educate members of the community and promote global warming solutions. Participating students will gather at the Goleta Beach park and continue through to Isla Vista, handing out over 2,000 CFL (energy-efficient) light bulbs as well as information on the California High Speed Rail project, which hopes to eliminate the need for more highway construction and through use of a more energy-efficient train system.

Focus the Nation’s “day of action” is held by CALPIRG, Green Campus Program and Campus Progress at the Goleta Beach Park.
