UCSB Study Analyses Human Impact on Oceans

A UCSB-led study published in the 2/14 issue of Science analyzes the impact of human activities on the world’s oceans. The “big picture looks much worse than I imagine most people expected,” said lead author Ben Halpern. The study overlaid maps of pollution and overfishing. “My hope is that our results serve as a wake-up call to better manage and protect our oceans rather than a reason to give up,” Halpern said.
