MORE MEAGHERS: Just in case you’ve read her byline and noted her familiar last name, know that Independent intern Catherine Meagher is Chris Meagher’s sister, not his wife. This University of Missouri journalism and Spanish major, who will begin her sophomore year this fall, has kept busy learning about the Santa Barbara community. “I like to see and understand what goes on in the world,” she said of her motivations for studying journalism and coming here. Catherine has expressed an interest to further pursue her goalsincluding one day living on a boat. This would be a step up from where she lives now: on Chris’s floor. “It’s fun having her around, and having another journalist in the family,” Chris said.
