Fiesta Kick Off

Thu Jul 24, 2008 | 12:00am

For Santa Barbara’s party-hardy gringos, Fiesta means four things: tequila, beer, tacos, and Spencer the Gardener, the band that’s entertained the Old Spanish Day masses for the past 16 years with their trademark blend of quirky, original pop and rehashed Spanish-language favorites. The band are so into the tradition they even put out an album in 2006 called Fiesta, which is basically Fiesta in a bottle, containing such crowd favorites as “Rancho Grande,” “Guantanamera,” and “Juana la Cubana.” Get the party started this Wednesday, July 30, at 9 p.m., when Spencer the Gardener takes the stage at Casa de la Guerra, kicking off the first day of the Fiesta celebration.
