The 2008 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of 1,476 of the country’s institutes of higher learning ranked UCSB as the 12th best public national university and the 44th best national university – slightly up from its rankings last year. Westmont College tied with four other schools for the 111th best liberal arts school and was one of the eight California liberal arts schools to be listed. (/collegerankings)
