Although The Indy‘s initial report on the resignation of Dave Davis from the Plan Santa Barbara Outreach Committee was “premature,” according to the city’s former community development director, it was indeed “partially accurate.” The article in question reported that Davis was leaving because he was dismayed with a recent public survey that asked what he deemed biased questions, without any guidance from the committee itself. He called the survey “campaign type propaganda.”

In a letter sent last week to the committee, City Council, and Mayor Marty Blum, Davis does tender his resignation, but says that contrary to the August 28 article, the reason for leaving is not solely related to a recent public opinion survey. Though the letter does describe some disappointments, Davis explained that he is leaving because he believes the “work of the Outreach Committee has been completed” and that he think his time “can be better spent in supporting Plan Santa Barbara in other more productive ways.”
