CHP Seeks Ford Taurus in 101 Hit-and-Run
Accident Killed 14-Year-Old Christina Veloz-Payne
The CHP announced today that its investigation into the hit-and-run accident that killed 14-year-old Christina Veloz-Payne has revealed that the vehicle that struck her is likely a 1996, 1997, or 1998 Ford Taurus. According to a press release issued today, this car may have sustained damage to its right or left front end, including a damaged headlight, as well as to its hood or roof.

Veloz-Payne was killed while attempting to cross the 101 near Plumas Avenue sometime between the evening of September 1 and the early morning of September 2. According to previous CHP statements, it appears that she had been trying to cross the 101 on foot. She had left the Labor Day fireworks show in Girsh Park alone, her friends reported.
