ON THE COVER: The name “Picasso” has almost become synonymous with communism, Cubism, and the antiwar “Guernica,” but his drawings and prints currently on display at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art reveal a man who extends beyond assumptions or strict classifications. The image on the cover (“Blind Minotaur Guided by a Little Girl in the Night”), for example, is considered a precursor to the famous “Guernica” but it also reflects Picasso’s humble beginnings as a starving artist.
