The Cottage Health System’s Santa Barbara, Goleta, and Santa Ynez Valley branches are increasing security precautions, both to keep up with national trends in hospitals and in light of the kidnapping of a newborn baby from the Santa Barbara facility last July. Ron Werft, Cottage president and CEO, announced on 6/17 that the new measures include a stricter ID system, increased security personnel and cameras, and fewer unlocked entrances, among others.
