The Salvation Army has closed the doors of its Milpas Street thrift store. The decision followed a merger between the organization’s Adult Rehabilitation Center residence in Carpinteria, which the thrift store previously supported, and operations in Los Angeles County. The closure aims to reduce expenses in light of debts the rehab facility had incurred.

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) announced this week that it will open a new contract postal unit (CPU) on 7/16 at Mesa Communications on Cliff Drive. This venture will cost little to the USPS, said spokespersons, because it will operate within an existing business. The USPS is currently evaluating its existing offices but has made no decisions to close any locations so far.
