Any foodie worth his or her copy of Mastering the Art of French Cooking knows things got immeasurably better in town when Renaud’s Patisserie (3315 State St., 569-2400, renaudsbakery.com) opened in Loreto Plaza. The latest good news is that Renaud and Nicole Gonthier slowly are expanding their empire of eclairs and more, as they now own and operate Cafe Luna (2354 Lillie Ave., Summerland; 695-8780). “Our plan for Cafe Luna is to turn it back into a fun and relaxed atmosphere for the people of Summerland and Montecito,” Nicole Gonthier said. “We want to create a warm ambiance that not only welcomes the neighborhood and delights their senses but also to create the same feeling for people traveling from Santa Barbara and our out-of-town guests.” As is the case at the flagship, Luna will feature food made with only the best ingredients, so look for a terrific slate of new panini soon. Nicole was also proud to say “our coffee is now 100-percent organic and triple certified.” There is no kitchen at Luna, so all the baked goods will be made under Renaud’s watchful eye. Needless to say, his pain au chocolat will be yet dreamier practically oceanside.
