Ventura has cameras set up in every intersection at the Esplanade and Target shopping areas. These are big intersections, with a lot of distance involved. If the light turns red at any time while you are in the intersection, they send you a ticket. It doesn’t matter if the light was yellow when you entered, all that matters is it turned red while you were in it. The fine: just short of $500. If you contest it, it goes to $800. These are tickets no cop would have written. This is legal extortion by the City of Ventura. Stay out of Ventura. – Alan Dunn
