I’d like to know more about the Loma Alta Drive construction project. While it all seems like a good idea (replacement of the antique street lighting, sidewalks, etc.), the residents of the immediate Mesa area were never informed that this main artery would be closed to traffic for more than three months. The city’s roadwork Web sites do not comment on the project or on its progress at all beyond the 2008 decision to do it in the first place. My questions are simple: When will it be finished, and when will we have access to the downtown area without having to use alternate routes? It’s odd that such an important road should have been closed without comment in the press, as far as I can tell. Surely, KEYT employees have been affected. I learned of it only by signage a week or so prior to the beginning of the work. What’s going on? And why aren’t residents being kept informed? Maybe it’s none of our business. We only live here. — George Backman
