Soccer Coach Quits Amid Allegations

Chris Fernandez, who had been an assistant coach for UCSB’s women’s soccer team for less than a year, resigned amidst allegations he had inappropriate relations with a 15-year-old while he worked as a coach in Arizona. Fernandez also faced a complaint at UCSB that he was favoring particular players on the team. It is not known whether his resignation, accepted by UCSB officials on 3/1, is related to either or both of the allegations, which were made public by an Arizona newspaper in recent weeks.
