Santa Barbara Sheriff’s detectives are asking the public to help them find a couple accused of using a stolen credit card to buy thousands of dollars worth of computer equipment.
According to Sheriff’s department spokesperson Drew Sugars, a 60-year-old woman noticed her wallet was missing sometime between 4:15 – 5:00 p.m. while she shopped at the Camino Real Marketplace.
She immediately called her bank and credit card companies, said Sugars, but was told that one of her credit cards had already been used to buy $4,000 worth of computer equipment at the nearby Best Buy store. (Surveillance footage photos of the couple leaving Best Buy can be seen here.)
She later learned that the same card was used to buy more than $2,000 worth of computer supplies at the Apple Store in downtown Santa Barbara. According to Sugars, both transactions occurred between 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
