S.B. Botanic Garden Seeks Donations; Local Equine Group to Host Volunteer Horse Evacuation Day

This Saturday, May 22, the S.B. Equine Evacuation and Assistance Team will host an Equine Evac Volunteer Training Day.

• One year ago this month, 70 percent of the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden’s Mission Canyon campus was burned in the Jesusita Fire. Still operating despite the devastating loss, the garden is seeking monetary donations to continue its efforts to rebuild. Call 682-4726 or visit sbbg.org for more info.

• This Saturday, May 22, the S.B. Equine Evacuation and Assistance Team will host an Equine Evac Volunteer Training Day to prepare volunteer citizens to handle horses safely in an evacuation situation following an emergency, such as a fire or earthquake. The training session begins at 9 a.m. at Gate C of Earl Warren Showgrounds (3400 Calle Real). RSVPs are requested; call 570-9966 for more info.
