DOLPHIN SISTERS: Does this statue look familiar? That’s because James “Bud” Bottoms sculpted it, just like he did the one at the base of Stearns Wharf in Santa Barbara. But this is in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, our sister city to the south, where self-proclaimed BFFs and loyal Indy readers, from left, Molly Holveck, Lynne Simpson, and Sarah Holveck went a few weeks ago for some springtime R&R. Bottoms’s modern bronze fountain sits in the heart of El Centro on the famous Malecón, or boardwalk, of PV. It was a gift and symbol of friendship from the artist and Santa Barbara community in a cultural exchange in 1987.
