S.B. Channels President to Resign

Ted Baer has announced that he will be resigning as president of the board of S.B. Channels, Santa Barbara’s nonprofit public access TV station, after four years on the job. In the past year, S.B. Channels has been beset by turnover at the top, financial troubles stemming from city budget cuts, and most recently accusations that Baer had been trying, however unsuccessfully, to terminate the station’s current executive manager. He found himself embroiled in a public war of words with the station’s ever-outspoken talk show host, Ernie Salomon, who called Baer a micro-managing control freak and called for his resignation. Baer stated the recent controversies had nothing to do with his decision and that, as an entertainment lawyer, he’s not discombobulated by such melodramatics.
