The County Board of Supervisors ended a long search for an Agricultural Commissioner, selecting Cathleen Fisher who comes from Contra Costa County where she was the chief deputy ag commissioner and sealer of weights and measures. She has 22 years of experience in the agriculture field, and will start in Santa Barbara on 10/4 at a salary of $145,000. Fisher fills a spot left vacant by Bill Gillette, who retired at the end of 2009 after 34 years with the county.
