Carpinteria Incumbents Rule
Thanks to our three incumbent candidates Brad Stein, Gregg Carty and Al Clark Carpinteria is in excellent financial condition despite the recession. Budget reserves built up over many years have protected us from the cuts to essential public services that are impacting many other cities. We need to retain these three candidates whose wise decisions have protected our city financially.
When Venoco launched a corporate attack on Carpinteria’s regulatory oversight that protects public health and safety, our three incumbent candidates, Brad, Gregg, and Al, were the only candidates to stand up against Measure J. Their challengers each have close ties to Venoco and/or the Chamber of Commerce who flip-flopped from its initial neutral position to strongly in favor of Measure J.
The incumbents have taken action to help local businesses. Several major expansions are in progress: Albertsons, which will bring jobs along with the additional shopping; lynda.com, a high tech company that moved its corporate headquarters here bought the old Salvation Army building and is rapidly adding new jobs; Clipper Wind Power, a company looking to the future providing clean energy and jobs. New businesses continue to come to Carpinteria: a new hardware store is coming to Casitas Plaza.
The upcoming election is extremely important to protect Carpinteria as we now know it; a vibrant, healthy place to live and work. Please vote for Brad Stein, Gregg Carty and Al Clark to remain on our City Council so that they may continue to protect and strengthen our community.
