Nightmare Act

So, Ms. Garcia, I want to make sure I understand your position on this Dream Act you talk about. [Opinions, Dreams Deferred, 9/22/10.] If you have come to this country illegally, you think these people should be able to get financial aid to attend colleges in this country and should be able to get driver licenses, be entitled to free health care at emergency wards in U.S. hospitals, and many other rights associated with being an American. Why would lawbreakers be entitled to these items? They have broken the law plain and simple. If I go to Mexico illegally would I get all these benefits? If I go to Australia, Britain, England, Scotland, or any other country illegally, would I get the benefits their citizens get? I don’t think so. You are out of your mind. This Pueblo group, along with school board member Annette Cordero would just as soon see California renamed Mexico.

Our country is in a major recession (I don’t care what the government says), unemployment is extremely high, our state of California is broke, our legal residents can’t afford college, our school system is imploding, and you want to give away services to lawbreakers. Get a life.
