Fri Oct 15, 2010 | 06:00am

The Santa Barbara County Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) will host its Fall Forum this Tuesday, October 19. This season’s topic is Measure S, the county ballot initiative that would impose a half-cent sales tax to help pay for a new North County jail and also fund additional public safety services. Featured speakers debating the “pros” of the tax will be Rick Roney, chair of Sheriff Bill Brown’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Jail Overcrowding, and on the “con” side will be Nick Beeson, a former public defender. The panel starts at 7 p.m. at Embarcadero Hall (935 Embarcadero del Norte, Isla Vista). Admission is free. Call 687-5321 for more info.
