A Santa Barbara man was arrested this morning, suspected of possessing and distributing child pornography. Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Drew Sugars said 24-year-old Sean Sidney was taken into custody after detectives served a search warrant in the 3800 block of Sterrett Avenue and seized various pieces of electronic equipment and drugs.

On April 26 of this year, said Sugars, an agent from the Department of Homeland Security contacted Santa Barbara detectives and told them an investigation he was working on revealed child porn was being distributed in the Santa Barbara area. Authorities soon discovered Sidney had posted an image of child pornography on photobucket.com and was the person responsible for uploading other illegal photos online.

During Tuesday’s search and arrest, detectives found Sidney to be in possession of various images as well as ecstasy and LSD. He was booked into County Jail this morning, but posted a $20,000 bail and was released.
