On behalf of The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise (RCSBS), President Bill Boyd received “The Salvation Army Service Club of the Year Award” for raising the most donations during the 2010 annual holiday bell-ringing campaign. The award was presented by Captain Phil Smith. The bell-ringing campaign is one of the service projects for local Rotary clubs, and the collected donations help area underprivileged families. RCSBS has been involved with the Salvation Army holiday campaign for over a decade. In the last few years, a friendly competition has developed amongst Rotary clubs for the most donations resulting in creative ways to elicit contributions from holiday shoppers. For four weekends before Christmas, RCSBS holiday bell ringers can be found in front of Nordstrom’s on Canon Perdido Street.
