Thanks for the Oom-pah-pah!

I want to thank the organizations that recently brought Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano to Santa Barbara. I was able to enjoy a wonderful outdoor concert performed by ten outstanding musicians and singers at one of Peoples’ Self-Help Housing affordable complexes in Carpinteria. Mr. Cano and his troupe enjoyed an authentic Mexican lunch prepared by our residents after their rousing performance!

Thousands of local residents were able to enjoy free concerts also held in Goleta, Santa Barbara, and Guadalupe. What a treat to hear this Grammy-award-winning group (and two talented dancers) thanks to the !Viva el Arte de Santa Barbara! effort. These classic Mariachi concerts were arranged by Belles Artes of Carpinteria (Kathleen Lord and Al Clarke) and UCSB Arts & Lectures (Cathy Oliverson) with major funding by the James Irvine Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, Santa Barbara Foundation and many others.
