Sentencing Delayed for Convicted Murderer

The sentencing for Matthew Prock, who was found guilty in June of second degree murder for the 2000 stabbing of 23-year-old Eddie Vasquez in Carpinteria, was continued on 10/11. Prock was convicted several years ago after a Ventura County trial, but had the conviction reversed because of improper jury instructions. Prock’s sentencing was continued so his attorney, deputy public defender Mindi Boulet, could prepare a motion for a new trial. If his motion for a new trial is not granted on 11/21, he will likely be sentenced the same as he was the first time around, 16 years to life in prison.
