Pesticide Application Put on Hold Amid Public Outcry

Turns out that last week’s application of the highly controversial pesticide methyl iodide on a strawberry field in North County has been put on hold amid public outcry. Initially reported to be administered on 10/18 at G&S Farms near Guadalupe, the application was rescheduled for this past Monday, 10/24, but is now on hold pending additional permit review from County Agricultural Commissioner Cathy Fisher. The additional review comes after Earthjustice, working on behalf of Californians for Pesticide Reform, challenged the planned application on the grounds that it violated the California Environmental Quality Act.
