As has become an undead Santa Barbara tradition, dozens of costumed zombies took part in the across-the-globe Thrill the World event Saturday, dancing in unison to Michael Jackson’s hit “Thriller” in the Courthouse Sunken Gardens. Accompanied by a crowd of spectators, the dancing group joined 226 officially registered groups across the world in an attempt to break the record of the largest simultaneous “Thriller” dance. The results have yet to be tallied. The local installment also organized with the goal to raise $5,000 for a Guatemalan charity. Originally scheduled to take place in De la Guerra Plaza, the dance event moved to the courthouse lawn to accommodate the ongoing Occupy Santa Barbara demonstrations.
