Rain Tips Gauges Well Past Expectations

The early-season onslaught of rain continued this past week, with the third straight weekend of wet and wild weather plaguing the South Coast. Thanks to a low-pressure front that moved into the area late Saturday and stuck around for much of the day Sunday, more than two inches of rain fell in Buellton and Goleta while downtown Santa Barbara saw just over an inch. All told, though we are just a few months into the “Water Year,” much of the county is already tipping the rain gauges well past the annual expectations for this time of year. Rain remains in the forecast with another round of showers due to arrive on Thanksgiving, according to the National Weather Service.
