San Jose Creek Improvement Project Update

Tue Mar 06, 2012 | 04:34pm

Traffic control is currently being installed on Kellogg Avenue south of Hollister Avenue. This includes signage and striping to insure the safety of the drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and the construction crew. Kellogg Avenue will only be open for southbound traffic between Kellogg Way and Thornwood Drive. Northbound traffic will be directed to Thornwood Drive to Pine Avenue and back to Hollister Avenue. (See map below.) This traffic control may be in place for up to one year depending on the pace of construction.

Next week the contractor will finish installing k-rail on Highway 217. Then the clearing and grubbing operations will begin. Highway 217 will be down to one lane between Hollister Avenue and the end of the project area (approximately one mile south of Hollister) for the duration of the project. The Sandspit Road off-ramp will remain open. The westbbound on-ramp at Hollister Avenue onto the 217 will be closed occasionally as needed for construction operations. Closures will be posted at least 2 days in advance.

I will continue to update you as information is available. If you have any other questions or concerns needing immediate attention, please contact me at vkushnerov@cityofgoleta.org or 805-961-7507.
