The new Santa Barbara school parcel tax measures now have names. Measure A—for secondary schools—will ask for a yearly $45 lump sum tax on property owners. Measure B—for elementary schools—asks for $48. These taxes provide funding for music, arts, math, science, foreign language and theatre instruction as well as technology that the district would otherwise not offer. These taxes would replace two similar parcel taxes—H and I—that expire in June of 2013. Seniors can opt out.
