Sheriff’s deputies Monday morning responded to an apparent suicide at Cold Spring Bridge at 1:40 a.m. and found the body of 30-year-old Santa Monica resident Peter Roycewicz near Stagecoach Road, which runs under the 1,148-foot span on Highway 154 just north of San Marcos Pass. Roycewicz’s car was found on the road nearby, and his family has been notified of his death. The suicide marks the first from the bridge since a mesh barrier was installed — after much controversy — along its sides six months ago. Authorities say they don’t know how Roycewicz got over or past the 9-foot 7-inch mesh guard.
