Jaffurs Thompson Syrah

Tue May 21, 2013 | 06:00am

Jaffurs Wine Cellars Thompson Vineyard Syrah 2010: Since 1994, Craig Jaffurs has been making syrah from the same block of this vineyard in the hills east of Los Alamos, and there’s an obvious reason why: though lighter in color than other Jaffurs syrahs, the Thompson bursts with tannins, cherry, tobacco, and a food-friendly acidity that goes well with hard-shell carnitas tacos from El Bajio, around the corner from the East Montecito Street winery.

Make a stop by the tasting room (open Friday-Monday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.) or see jaffurswine.com for more on the wine.
