Shai Adome 2009

Shai Cellars Adome 2009: Though “Super-Rhône” isn’t an official wine-blending category, this luscious mix of 65 percent syrah from the Tierra Alta Vineyard and 35 percent cabernet sauvignon from the Jack McGinley Vineyard confirms that it should be.

Jasmine and gingerbread on the beautifully fragrant nose, silky texture with touches of vanilla — likely from the 55 percent new oak — and dark cherry on the tongue, this bottling by Shai (which means “gift” in Hebrew and is a team effort from owner Shawn Halahmy and winemaker Mikael Sigouin) is hard to stop drinking.
