The Lab opened in January of 2012 and has recently completed over a year of egg retrievals and embryo transfers with success rates above the national average in a majority of categories set up by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The Lab supports assisting couples with infertility via assisted reproductive techniques that patients can complete locally, saving them time and alleviating stress.

Santa Barbara Fertility Center offer’s patients a complete spectrum of reproductive options that include intrauterine insemination, In Vitro Fertilization, embryo and egg freezing to preserve or delay fertility, egg donation, embryo donation, surrogacy, and tubal reversal surgery. The Lab provides modern services including fertilizing retrieved eggs via Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), assisted embryo hatching and biopsying embryos to perform preimplantation genetic testing (PGD), all of which can improve pregnancy rates and outcomes for some patients.

The Lab features an advanced air filtration system, which is ideal for culturing human eggs and embryos and has undergone inspection and certification by the College of American Pathologists, a regulatory agency that maintains the highest standards.

Dr. René Allen, director of SBFC and a Santa Barbara native, states “We are thrilled to provide a service that previously was not available locally; it is a pleasure to serve this beautiful community and provide greater access to infertility care,”. With our new facility, we are set to improve pregnancy rates and offer innovative laboratory procedures while bringing skilled embryology and other key clinical professional positions to Santa Barbara County. In addition to offering the highest level of reproductive treatment, Santa Barbara Fertility Center provides a compassionate, personalized experience throughout the patient’s journey to realizing their dreams of having a family.
