Ten thousand (10,000) full-color copies are set to be distributed throughout the town on Monday, July 8th, free of charge, in effort to encourage story-sharing among locals.

“Operating under the belief that people want to know more about the organizations they support, we created a diverse collection of articles, each account a compelling glimpse into the heart of a local business,” said Jeff Boehm, COO of BoehmGroup. “Our goal is to help the community get to know these businesses in a more meaningful way.”

Written by best-selling author Michael Bowker and designed by award-winning graphic designer Don French, the book includes the brief histories of both individuals and businesses that have made an impact and helped to shape the city of Santa Barbara.

“You’ll learn about the amazing rise of Deckers, Citrix, and other local world-conquering companies; the surprising histories of the Santa Barbara Bowl, the Polo Club, and St. Vincent’s,” writes Bowker in his introduction. “In this book are the true and otherwise untold stories of the people who make the Santa Barbara region what it is, one of the best and most big-hearted places to live in the world.”

BoehmGroup founder Eric Boehm is also the creator of Goleta-based ABC-CLIO, now an internationally known publisher. “I see this publication as a significant step in building a stronger connection between residents, allowing customers to gain a better appreciation for the people they do business with on a daily basis,” Dr. Boehm said.

When asked about the book, Larry Crandell said, “This is an immensely enjoyable book. I’ve loved Santa Barbara all my life and I thought I knew the community, but this book shares inside stories that even I didn’t know. If you love this community like I do, you have to read this book!”

The book will be available in local retail shops, waiting rooms, networking groups, and more.
