Responding to comments about the news that pianos will soon be on State Street for impromptu shows.

The keys freeze thoughts of prejudice,

Spill out notes of juicy sweet bliss,

Twist and shout wild harmonies,

Send them floating on the breeze,

Call to hearts from far and wide,

Fill the voids between the sides —

Soprano, alto, tenor, bass,

Syncopation, rhythm, silent space —

So tickle the ivories when they’re around.

Make a moment of unifying sound.
