WHO: The Creative Community, TVSB Culture’s longest running program. The show highlights the local artistic culture of the Santa Barbara region in an engaging and informative way.

WHAT’S HAPPENING: After nine years in the television studio, The Creative Community is taking it to the streets of the South Coast! The show has also expanded from a half-hour to a full-hour format in order to provide an in-depth look at the artistic process. Hosted by Santa Barbara City College English Professor David Starkey—a former Santa Barbara Poet Laureate – The Creative Community brings the artists’ world directly into the homes of viewers.

Local artists, writers, musicians and other creatives will now be interviewed in their own homes and studios. The new format—directed, filmed and edited by J.P. Montalvo—has a more polished look with enhanced visuals.

WHAT’S AHEAD: The most recent episode was taped on the Open Studio Tour presented by Santa Barbara Studio Artists. Patti & Tom Post, Sara Lytle, and Pamela Larsson Toscher are this episode’s featured guests. Viewers will get a first-hand look at how these groundbreaking artists make their work!

WHERE TO FIND IT: The Creative Community airs every Friday night at 9:00 pm on TVSB Culture, Channel 71 or 104.21. This new episode premieres Friday, October 18.

The Creative Community is produced by TVSB Culture and is sponsored by a generous grant from the Diana and Simon Raab Foundation.

TVSB is a nonprofit community media training, production and distribution center for local independent voices and community programming.
