Holzer Case on Hold
Arraignment Delayed as a New Judge is Assigned
Nicolas Holzer, the man charged with stabbing his parents and two sons and family dog to death last month, appeared in court for the second time on Tuesday. With a new beard and short head of hair, Holzer, 45, looked indifferent as he stood in custody behind the glass. Public defender Christine Voss asked the judge for the arraignment to be postponed one week while the court determines which department will hear the case. Voss filed for a disqualification for Judge Jean Dandona on the matter and does not have to state a reason for doing so. Potentially facing the death penalty, Holzer has been charged with four counts of murder and one count of animal cruelty. He will return to court on September 16.
