Darville, a professional cyclist, recently rode 147 miles from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara, which included a stretch through the Santa Monica Mountains. “It’s a fun and nomadic life. I spend a lot of time away from home,” said Darville. Leach is a full-time college student home for two more weeks before heading back to single-digit temperatures in Boston. Although the two friends now live far away from one another, both agree that the best part about cycling is the freedom.
