A man and woman from Los Angeles were arrested this morning for robbing a Chase Bank in Carpinteria. Terry Ray Hornbeck, 53, and Mary Lee Johnson, 49, were charged with robbery and possession of brass knuckles and cocaine.

According to Sheriff’s spokesperson Kelly Hoover, the dispatch center received a 9-1-1 call of a bank robbery just after 9 a.m. It was reported that the suspect was being driven away in a silver Hyundai last seen getting onto southbound Highway 101. Shortly after, a patrol deputy from the Sheriff’s Carpinteria substation spotted the car and waited for backup before pulling the suspects over. “A search of the vehicle provided evidence of the crime,” said Hoover, who declined to offer additional details.

Both Hornbeck and Johnson are being held in Santa Barbara County Jail on $100,000 bail.
