Mira Bella’s 15 Years of Smiling Service

Located on the Mesa in Santa Barbara, Mira Bella Salon and Spa is a place where “everybody knows your name,” according to owner and stylist Laura Cordero. The salon, which will soon turn 15 years old, offers everything from haircuts and coloring treatments to massages and facials.

“Almost everyone is on a first-name basis,” said Cordero, who’s proud of her salon’s reputation for great customer service. “We try to make people feel really comfortable and welcome,” she explained.

The salon turns 15 in January but will celebrate the milestone in December with a holiday appreciation party for staff and loyal customers. One such customer is Kara Barton, who’s been going to Cordero for 25-30 years, long before Cordero owned Mira Bella. Barton described Cordero as a “nice, happy, sweet, and fun” individual and said the other stylists are extremely helpful to one another. “The stylists all seem to know everything that’s going on,” said Barton of the close-knit vibe. She even took her daughter to Cordero for her wedding-day prep, which Barton believes “says it all.”

After graduating from beauty school in 1992, Cordero started working in numerous salons. Though she “didn’t have a business background,” Cordero decided to start her own salon because she had a great team of stylists willing to support her. As her mission statement explains, “Our team has the reputation and the expertise necessary to help you feel relaxed and to maintain a beauty which encompasses both body and spirit.”
