Fast-Food Fracas

At a Buellton City Council meeting Thursday night, the city fathers were prepared to vote on limiting the locations of or prohibiting fast-food restaurants in Buellton and that they should not be allowed on the Avenue of Flags. America — this is where we all live!

There are certain inalienable rights under U.S. Constitution, among these are life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. That is the true genius of America. Let’s not change that now.

To stop and outlaw the food outlets is to say that fast food goes against all the rules and regulations of the community. The people should be allowed to spend their own, hard-earned money at the restaurant of their choice and not where the city wants them to buy necessary food. I consider the limiting of choices to be Draconian government overreach. I will chose and determine where I will eat!

A more sane argument is should government public health be outlawed just to save the constitutional liberty and freedom we all want to enjoy. A more plausible argument is outlawing government public health and restoring the inalienable constitutional rights and liberty we all have the birthright to demand in America.

The proposal was tabled at this time.
